If your home has wiring splices like this your risk of
fire or electrical shock is greatly increased...this
condition is considered a fire and safety hazard.
The wires should join in an approved junction box.
Hire licensed contractors to do work on your home.
This photo shows the use of an all weather
receptacle cover for continuous use plug-ins.
Sink Under Power Panel - Against Code!!
Found in a new home in the City of Madison. We
can't say enough about this picture. Often times we
are asked if new homes
really should be
inspected...after all, they have passed all the city
inspections!
This condition is very dangerous!
The electrical panel is a Federal Pacific(fire prone)
electrical panel as well as being nasty.
What is wrong with this picture? Not only
dangerous but also it is illegal to jump the meter
base without a meter to record power usage.
Found in Rankin County this panel is only a few
years old. An room addition had been finished to
the home...the panel had been tapped into and the
circuit breakers doubled up with wiring.
Overload!

ALWAYS have your
home inspected by a
licensed professional
home inspector.

Child Safety Tip

Unplug all small
kitchen appliances,
hair dryers, curling
irons, electric blankets
and other small
household appliances
when not in use.
Temporary wiring (extension cords) are not
manufactured to replace your home's wiring. During
attic inspections MAHI inspectors often find fire
hazards like this. The home owner used this wiring
for attic lighting and had three cords strung in a row
to help light an attic storage area.
